Designing and building a home, office or investment property can be a very stressful and complex experience. Developing the correct design approach, dealing with authorities and building codes, managing budgets, selecting appropriate materials, fixtures and finishes, selecting the right builder and contract type, whilst maintaining your everyday work and or family commitments is a big task. Often a building project is one of the most expensive things you will do in your life, and therefore potentially one of the most stressful – especially residential projects where many decisions are emotional ones. It is critical that you feel a connection or understanding with your Architect as it can be a lengthy and detailed process. Personality compatibility is critical to the success and enjoyment of this process, and this also carries through to the selection of the builder at the construction stage. I personally enjoy the design and construction processes, and believe that the client should also enjoy the excitement of this great experience.
With careful selection of the correct project team it is possible to enjoy the journey as much as the destination, and this is what I strive for with all of my projects. Most importantly, as a registered architect I work independently from builders to provide a professional and transparent process for my clients. I will always ensure that the client benefits from competitive tendering and is protected throughout the construction phase by independent architectural administration of the appropriate contract type.
